Hi, Welcome to my Blog!
My name’s Sara and I’m a Yorkshire based, thirty-something blogger on a mission to see the world – but more importantly to see it differently.
Upon my return to the UK in 2018, I decided to create a blog as a means to document my adventures and share with you stories and photos from my travels.
So a little about me.
I can’t recall a time when travel wasn’t a part of my life. As a child me and my family were always on the go and by the age of 16 (having moved house 14 times) I had mastered the art of fitting my life into a 25 litre rucksack.
I never gained a degree but that didn’t stop me from graduating college four times, gaining qualifications in the following: Humanities, Travel and Tourism, Aviation Operations. However I did attend University for a part time language course studying the Finnish Language.
My travels have taken me worldwide from volunteering at a Language Immersion Schools, roadtripping North America and solo travelling my way through over 30 countries in mainland Europe.
In 2015 I moved to San Francisco and trained as a Merchant Mariner, where after completion I was later based in Hawaii and the Pacific working on-board A luxury Cruise Ship.
My final months in the US were spent visiting a number of states. Eventually I missed life back home and booked a one way ticket back to the UK.
As for training and work I’ve had the opportunity to dip my toes within the Travel and Avaition industry as short haul Cabin Crew and a Pre-travel service advisor for two major airlines.
I wanted my blog to combine my love of all things Europen, budget and travel related, soon enough ‘Girl About Europe’ was born.
The aim of my blog is to be more than just a place to look up ‘how to guides’ and recommendations – but a place to share with you honest travel experiences and realistic tips whilst interacting on a real level.
On my blog you will find posts about the ups and downs of being a part time backpacker, how to actually travel on the cheap along with reviews, photo journals and the perks of being a minimalist.
I aim to inspire by any means personally, whether it’s recommending my favourite books or cheering you on as you finally snatch that bargain plane ticket.
But most importantly supporting you as fellow bloggers and readers.
Lastly I hope you decide to stick around and follow along on this adventure with me as I’d love to get to know you.
Once again welcome and thankyou for reading.
